Senior Director, Information Technology

Summary

The University of Waterloo is seeking a Senior Director, Information Technology (SDIT) to lead the Faculty of Engineering's IT strategy and operations. This permanent, full-time role reports to the Executive Officer and is responsible for translating institutional priorities into innovative technology solutions that support teaching, learning, research, and administration. The SDIT will provide strategic leadership for IT services, infrastructure, and innovation, ensuring alignment with the Faculty's academic and operational objectives. Key accountabilities include organizational leadership, strategic planning, IT governance, stakeholder engagement, and fostering a culture of service excellence and continuous improvement. The position requires a minimum of an undergraduate degree in a related field, 10+ years of progressive IT experience including at least 5 years in senior leadership, and a strong understanding of IT service delivery in a large, decentralized, research-intensive academic environment.
