Summary

Cambridge Memorial Hospital is seeking two Part-Time Registered Practical Nurses (RPNs) for their Mental Health - Inpatient department. The role involves providing nursing care to individuals with serious mental health disruptions, requiring knowledge of psychotropic medications, family and community context, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The RPN will work all shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, with 12-hour shifts. The position also contributes to maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Required qualifications include a College of Nurses of Ontario Certificate of Registration, an RPN Diploma or equivalent, and two years of current experience in mental health nursing. Candidates must successfully complete CMH's Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Training within three months of hire. Desirable assets include knowledge of the Ontario Mental Health Reporting System (OMHRS) and Meditech systems, excellent communication, problem-solving, and negotiating skills, and the ability to integrate discharge planning and health promotion into patient care plans. The hospital also requires all staff to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and successful external applicants to provide a criminal record check.
