Nurse Practitioner - Refugee Health
Summary
The Health Centre is seeking a dynamic Primary Care Nurse Practitioner to join their clinical team, focusing on providing healthcare to individuals facing barriers such as poverty, homelessness, language, and complex health conditions. This role specifically supports newcomers and refugees within a health promotion framework, working collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams and external providers. The position offers opportunities for both full-time permanent and part-time temporary (12-month contract) employment. Key qualifications include a Bachelor or Master of Science in Nursing, a Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner Certificate, and registration with the Ontario College of Nurses. Candidates should have 3-5 years of primary care experience in a community setting, with knowledge of trauma-informed care and experience working with individuals who have experienced trauma, including refugees. An understanding of health equity and the social determinants of health, along with the ability to work with diverse populations through an inclusive and anti-oppressive lens, is essential. Experience with Electronic Medical Records and proficiency in French or other languages are considered assets.
