RPN, Emergency Department & Inpatient Unit

Summary

Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) for a regular part-time position in the Emergency Department and Inpatient Unit at the Seaforth Community Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing patient care to a diverse caseload, including acute care, complex continuing care, rehabilitation, and palliative patients across adult and paediatric populations. Key duties involve patient assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care in compliance with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) scope of practice. Applicants must hold a current Certificate of Registration in good standing with the CNO and have current BLS certification. The role requires completion of courses in 12-lead ECG interpretation and basic cardiac arrhythmia interpretation. A minimum of two years of recent nursing experience in an acute care setting is preferred. Essential skills include medication administration, IV therapy, IV starts, insertion of nasogastric (NG) tubes, and subcutaneous portal insertion and drug administration. Desired qualifications include experience in cardiac care, wound and burn care, assisting with cast applications, and patient education. Familiarity with Meditech, Risk Monitor Pro, and Automated Dispensing Cabinets is an asset. The ideal candidate will possess strong critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of an interprofessional team.
